Dr Tamuka Kaseke

Tamuka Kaseke is the CEO of Alt-e Technologies and a Director of AE AMD Renewable Energy. Currently, Tamuka is also a Principal at Senatla Capital. Prior to this, Tamuka was an executive at Sanlam Employee Benefits in charge of R&D and Strategic Ventures.
Tamuka’s career in the financial services sector involved the following positions:

• Director & Head: HSBC SA Derivatives Trading
• Director: MAB Structured Products
• Head: SCMB Securities Derivatives Tradings
• Director: South African Futures Exchange (SAFEX)
• He has also consulted for Old Mutual Properties on property derivatives.
Tamuka holds a PhD in Statistics and MMath in Mathematics from the University of Waterloo in Canada, an MSc in Applied Mathematics from Queens University in Canada, and a BSc in Mathematics from the University of the West Indies. He has also completed a MDP at the UCT Graduate School of Business.
Site identification, environmental, land use, permissioning
Mr Berrington has completed his BSc in Civil Engineering at the University of Cape Town as well as his MBA at the University of the Witwatersrand, Johannesburg.
Mr Berrington has participated in a number of projects as a director and developer of GDI Holdings, South Africa, which included the Island Project Limited and River Club Co Limited, a 337 unit estate in Mauritius, the Kalahari Gholf & Jag Landgoed (374 unit golf estate) and Marble Hall Gholf Landgoed (225 unit golf estate).
Mr Berrington then continued as a free-lance project manager in the residential property development industry covering all aspects of property development, including environmental and land use rights, planning, pricing, marketing, sales administration, construction, transfer and cash collection.
Projects include Pinnacle Point Casino and Beach and Golf Club, a casino and a 730 unit golf estate, Heron Waters eco development at Swartvlei Sedgefield and Rheebokrif – 700 unit township development.
With respect to renewable energy projects, Mr Berrington has managed all the site location, land use, environmental and permitting processes. He has also worked in collaboration with the engineering team from AMDAenergia and the EPC Contractor in developing the concept and detailed design of the plants, with a particular emphasis on all structural and civil aspects.

Thabo is an independent consultant focused on the financial services sector. Prior to that, he was a senior executive at Sanlam, where he ended up as Chief Executive of Group Strategy.
He currently serves as President-elect of the Actuarial Society of South Africa and is also a non-executive director of insurance companies Santam and Credit Guarantee, and an independent trustee of the Alexander Forbes Retirement Fund.
He qualified as an actuary with Institute of Actuaries in London and is a Fellow of Actuarial Society of South Africa. He is also the founding President of the Association of South African Black Actuarial Professionals established with the express aim of increasing the number of black qualified actuaries. His financial services career commenced over 20 years ago when he began his actuarial training with Clerical Medical Group in Bristol. He then returned in 1995 to South Africa to manage the actuarial division at the Munich Reinsurance Company of Africa and, later on, the Risk and Strategic Planning function at Metropolitan Life.
Thabo was also an associate director at HSBC South Africa as an Investment Analyst focusing on the insurance sector and went on to work as a Derivative Structured Products executive at both HSBC and AMB Capital.
